We offer an intensive that very few other schools do at the price we do. We have only 10 slots for qualified students and we mean qualified. Our students are talented, yes but they are also dedicated and serious about their work and determined to have a career in the arts!
Below is our class lay out, prices and requirements.
Please call 646-338-5472 or write to mcenterbrooklyn@gmail.com for information.
We will be inaugurating a course curriculum-style program with pre-arranged time off, easier payment methods, and other benefits for you.
While initial hourly rates are going up slightly, the new payment method and reduced costs in other areas create a more accessible program with guaranteed benefits. But we can only do this with full packages (master class and performance). Under this new plan you will save $600 per year.*

FAQ:
- Can I get a discount?
The only discounts we now honor are family discounts and if you are wanting a SECOND voice or any other type.
- Is there a scholarship program?
There is Work-Study program. IF you are interested please contact us for requirements.
- Do you take checks?
Only in the instance that you DO not have a credit or debit card or available routing number to a checking account we can charge monthly. IF you use checks you will have to give us 12 checks for the amount of your lessons. We will deposit those monthly on the first of the month. IN the case that you bounce a check there is a $35 bounced check fee and a late fee of $10 applied as well.
- Why do I have to give you a credit card number or bank account number?
It is easier for all. You don’t have to think about getting a check or payment to us and we can assure that our monthly payments are handled on time as well.
- What happens if I quit before the year is over?
You will lose your deposit and be responsible (unless serious illness or injury occurs) to pay for the year of lessons.
- What happens to my deposit if I leave?
We keep your deposit. See above.
- When do I get my deposit back?
At the end of our year. August 2017.
- What happens if I miss many classes due to illness?
This is handled on a case by case basis.
- What if I have to go away for an extended time?
Case by case basis.
- What does the show I pay for consist of?
Please see Master Class descriptions above.
- What is the cost?
Please see above.
- Why Manhattan for show?
As the finishing touch to our year of training and learning, we bring our students out of their comfort zone in the studio to a professional theater.
- Why do I need lessons?
If you are serious about a career as a performing artist or as a serious hobbyist then you must study. Voice work and development takes years. Acting work takes time and concentration and all the other disciplines we teach also take time and attention.
- What happens in a lesson?
You learn how to use the voice YOU have. We work on breathing, placement of the voice. We work to clarify every note in your range on every vowel starting with the lightest of sounds to the loudest. You will also work on music for performances, auditions and competitions.
- Why are children’s lessons shorter than adults?
We find that, just like in regular school after about 45 minutes children start to get tired. We see them start to not be able to absorb more after that time. It is truly a waste of time and money.
- What is covered in Piano?
Basic skills, hand movements, sight reading, music theory.
- What is covered in acting class?
Body work, interpreting a script, creating a character with movement and voice. Bringing a character to life. Accent work, some speech.
- Are all lessons in Bay Ridge?
No, they can be in Manhattan if arranged.
- Why is the cost of the show dependent on the amount of participants?
Price for all that goes into the show including rental of theater, studio rental, accompanist fee and teacher’s fees is divided equally.
- What is covered in classes for the show?
Students will work together with a script especially created for them by the M Center. With accompanist they will go over all music, create characters, move together, and learn harmony, choreography and blocking, as well as creating a “costume” for their recital character.
- All Public Relations will be done by the M Center through JA&E, booking of the theater, rehearsal spaces and pianist. M Center video tapes and photographs all shows as well.
- What are the credentials of the teachers?
All of our teachers have been acting, singing and playing for many years. Each of them has advanced degrees in Theater Arts and Music and each of them has been teaching for over 20 years. Please ask for teacher bios and websites or find them on the M Center website.
- How long has the M Center been in existence?
M Center opened in Bay Ridge in 2014 but teaching under the banner of Genesis Repertory Ensemble and Bay Ridge Voice has been going on for over 20!
- Do I have to bring music to every lesson?
Yes
- Should I have something to record it on?
Yes
- How much should I practice?
We find about 30 minutes a day for a beginner is fine.
- What should I bring to lessons?
Music, pens, pencils, comfy clothes, indoor slippers, water, recording device.
